Dear colleagues and friends,

I am happy to announce the following special seminar here at UNIST, scheduled for tomorrow, Thursday, January 25, 2024:
*****
Speaker: Prof Sanjaye Ramgoolam (Queen Mary, University of London)
Title: String Theory and Group-Theoretic Algorithms
Location: UNIST Building 108, Room 320, (Zoom: https://unist-kr.zoom.us/j/88906891316?pwd=ECHYqV90thqgUHb7ucQZNehy2rWbjM.1)
Time/Date: Thursday, January 25, 2024, 16:00 – 17:00 (Korea Standard Time)
Abstract:
2D topological field theories based on group theoretic data can be used to define simple models of string theory. The singularities of the resulting stringy partition functions are related to interesting integral quantities in group representation theory. Identities for the amplitudes of these string theories form the starting point of combinatorial constructions of representation theoretic integers. When combined with Schur-Weyl duality, these TQFT structures are useful in understanding matrix theory correlators in AdS/CFT. The holographic correspondence motivates the formulation of new quantum algorithms based on TQFT data and new comparisons of classical and quantum complexity. The talk will be based on: arxiv[2106.05598], arxiv[2303.12154], arxiv[2304.10217].
